Japan's textile and apparel imports in June totaled 209kt, up 8.8% year-on-year but down 3.7% month-on-month, of which imports from China moved up 9.3% from the same period last year but down 4.1% compared to last month. Japan鈥檚 textile and apparel imports in Jan-Jun totaled 1,271kt, up 1.3% from the same period last year and 10.7% compared with the same period in 2019. Japan's amount of imports in June totaled 331.7billion yen, among which apparel imports reached 217.8billion yen, over 30% growth from last year.

Since the third quarter of last year, Japan's consumption of imported textile and apparel has continued to grow. The growth rate reached 31.6% in June, a high level even in the same period of previous years.


This year, the proportion of Japan's textile and apparel imported from China maintained at around 56.5% in last two months, which is stable in general.
