Wuxi No.1 Cotton's Phase I project in Ethiopia to start production in 2019

Wuxi No. 1 Cotton Mill, part of the Guolian Development Group and one of the largest textile manufacturers in China, has signed an investment agreement with the Ethiopian government to establish an integrated textile plant in Ethiopia. The new plant will be set up in Dire Dawa, the second largest city in Ethiopia, with 40 hectares, and invested $220 million. The spinning capacity is projected to be 300,000 spindles in two phases. The first phase will be invested $80 million, reaching 100,000 spindles and the factory will complete construction by the end of this year, with facilities like open-end processing workshop, staff restaurant and activity center. Equipment installation and debugging is supposed to do in the first half year of 2019 and the normal start-up of production is predicted to be in the second half year.

The products produced in Ethiopia is targeted at medium-to-high-end yarn, with high-end yarn-dyed, knitted and home textiles.
