Polyester fiber is one of the most important chemical fibers in textile industry. It mainly includes filament yarn and staple fiber. Polyester fiber has the advantage of anti-wrinkle and shape preserving and is suitable for making coat. At the same time, the polyester fabric is easily dry after washing and the wet-without-dry recovery is almost unchanged.

Polyester fabric has the best property of heat resistance among the other fabrics. In addition, the polyester fabric has a high tenacity and flexibility recovery. But due to the weak moisture absorption, it is a little fuggy when wearing and is easy to bring electricity and dust, affecting the appearance and comfort. The anti-melting property of the polyester fabric is poor, so cigarette ash and spark can easily burn holes on the fabric. In addition, the performance of dyeing is also worse than nylon.

However, except for the pure polyester fabric, there are many other types such as blended and interwoven fabrics that make up for the shortfall of pure polyester fabric.

Nylon is an important raw material for textile industry. It can be classified into textile fiber, industrial fiber and carpet fiber according to its application. There are also nylon staple fiber, nylon tow and nylon monofilament, but the production is quite limited.

Spandex is classified as an elastomeric fiber. An elastomer is a natural or synthetic polymer that, at room temperature, can be stretched and expanded to twice its original length. After removal of the tensile load it will immediately return to its original length. This yields the following combination of materials properties: can be stretched over 500% without breaking; able to be stretched repetitively and still recover original length; lightweight; abrasion resistant; poor strength, but stronger and more durable than rubber, soft, smooth, and supple; resistant to body oils, perspiration, lotions, and detergents; no static or pilling problem; very comfortable; easily dyed.

Major spandex fiber uses: Apparel and clothing articles where stretch is desired, generally for comfort and fit, such as: athletic, aerobic apparel; wetsuits; swimsuits&bathing suits; brassiere straps and bra side panels; ski pants; slacks; hosiery; leggings; socks; Skinny jeans; belts; underwear. Compression garments such as: surgical hose; support hose; cycling shorts; wrestling singlet. In clothing it usually appears as a small percentage of total material. It is used more often in women's as their clothes are usually more form-fitting. It is usually mixed with a greater percentage of one other textile such as cotton, polyester, or others. This keeps the reflection of light reduced to being hardly noticeable.

Acrylic fiber is usually called polyacrylonitrile fiber. It is curly, fluffy and soft. The fiber is quite similar to wool and is also named synthetic wool, but its warmth retention property is 15% higher than wool. The fiber can still maintain a rebound degree of 65% when it is elongated by 20%. The intensity of the fiber is 22.1～48.5cN/dtex, 1～2.5 times higher than wool. Light fastness is excellent. Its intensity only decreases 20% after insolated in the open air by one year. Thus, it can be made into curtain, sailcloth, covering kerchief, gun cover and etc. The fiber is resistant to acid, oxidant and regular organic solvents, while alkali resistance is weak. The softening temperature of acrylic fiber is 190～230℃.

Acrylic fiber can be blended with wool and most of the products are for civilian use, such as caddice, carpet, knitted sportswear, sailcloth, curtain, artificial fur, plush and so on. Acrylic fiber is also the raw material of high-tech products-carbon fiber.

PP fiber includes staple fiber, filament yarn and split film fiber, etc. Split film fiber is drawn from polypropylene-made film and split into net formation combined with raw fiber materials.

Civil applications: purely woven or blended with wool, cotton, viscose fiber, etc into various fabrics, to make knitting wears, such as socks, gloves, knitting suits, trousers, washing cloth, bed net cloth, quilt, fittings, hygiene materials (mask, sheltering cloth, medical use cloth, diapers); the fiber can also be knitting with other fibers to shirts, coats, sportswear, socks, etc. Quilts made from hollow PP fiber is very light, warm protective, and flexible.
